week 39... oh baby where art thou?

3 more days until my due date!! THREE... and still, no baby. Not even close to having a baby. Or at least that's how I feel right now. Went to my weekly doctor's appt on Tuesday and, yes, I am still dilated 1cm, 75% effaced. What gives, baby?! I know that it's warm and safe in there, but there are a ton of people out here just waiting to meet you!!

My next appt is on Monday the 29th (day after my due date) and at that time, if there is still no baby, then we will probably discuss a plan of action. Of course I don't want to be induced, but I understand that may just happen. Whatever is best for me and the baby.

So in the meantime, I have been walking (a lot!!) and doing every other so-called remedy that people have told me to try. Word to the wise: they don't work. It's a bunch of BS. I've even started making up my own rememdies... anything to get this baby a movin' and a groovin'. Nada. I think that it's safe to say that baby will come when baby is good and ready. End of story.

This week at work has passed at an all time record of S.....L.....O.....W!! My days literally feel like years. I'm tying up all of my loose ends at work, just in case I go home tonight and don't come back for another 3 months.

Other than the obvious, I don't have too much to report. Baby R has been as active as ever in my baby belly. I know that room is at a mininum in there. I keep saying "if you come out now you will have so much more room to stretch those loooong legs out". The baby likes it when Eddie rubs on my tummy. Last night baby was moving around so much that it was making it pretty difficult to eat my dinner. So Eddie started to rub on the baby belly and it was like instant serenity. Eddie is going to be such a phenomenal father!

So next week is it... I will be 40 weeks pregnant. Man oh man. I started this blog when I was 11 weeks and baby was not even 2in long. Now I have a full grown 7-8lb little human being inside of me. It has been such a joy writing these posts - and I appreciate all of those who read my blogs and keep up to date with me, Eddie and our sweet Baby R. I know that time is going to be a rare commodity around the Reynolds household for the next few months, but I am going to do my best to keep you all updated on our new family.

And so I end this blog, hoping that the next one I write is the announcement of our beautiful baby boy or girl... but in the event that it's not:

More to report from the baby belly at week 40!!!!!!!

And just in case this is the last pregnant picture that you will see of me, here's my baby bump:

38 weeks... still here!

As you can see, Baby R has not decided to grace us with his or her presence just yet. I am as anxious as ever, but I understand that baby will come when baby is good and ready. In the meantime, I just wait. We're all just waiting...

I had my weekly doctor's appointment on Monday and still no major progression since week 37. I am still dilated at just 1cm (have been since I was 36 weeks). But I am now effaced 75% (up from 50%). So that's a good sign. The softer your cervix gets (which is the effacement) the more that you dilate. So hopefully by the time I am 100% effaced, the dilation process will kick into high gear. Or maybe not...

As much as Eddie and I cannot wait to get our hands on this precious babe we're also enjoying our days, evenings, and nights of non interrupted sleep and quiet time. Because all of that will change, drastically, sooner than later. This past Saturday we went out for a delicious dinner, just the two of us, to Camerons. I haven't been since the one in Bexley left and Eddie has never been. It was just as good as I remembered! We definitely need to go there more often. It's good to have our "date nights" and we will continue to do so after the baby is born, we've already made that promise to each other. But we also know that a date night, just he and I, may have to wait a few months after the babe is born... we're okay with that!

I honestly don't have too much to report. My doctor said that if I happen to go past my due date then at that point we will begin to start talking about other options. She told me that she will not let me go 10 days past my due date. She also assured me that this is not going to be a big baby by any means - I'm thinking 7lbs... maybe 8lbs tops. Of course I know that many first time mama's go past their due dates... I am probably being the unrealistic one thinking that I would actually go a few days early. I guess that I just have high hopes :) My OB will be out of the country next week so I will be seeing another OB within the practice. The next time that I will see Dr. Summers will be on 3/29, the day after my due date. Obviously, I hope to not make it to that appointment. It would be just my luck to go into labor while my doctor is out of town... err, I mean out of the COUNTRY! Oh well, at that point I won't give a damn. I will just want someone who knows what the heck they're doing.

I don't have a specific birth plan - I was afraid that if I made one then everything would go array! So I am just going to go with the flow. I was going back and forth, contemplating an epidural for the longest time. I did some research on the internet and quickly realized that ignorance is indeed bliss! I talked to Dr Summers about some of the fears that I had about receiving an anestheic and she put my mind at ease. She is a supporter of the epidural but is also a supporter of going the au natural route. We talked about the kind of labor that I would ideally like to experience. Of course I told her a good one, and one without pain. So I think that you already know what direction I'm headed in. The only thing that I am requesting - besides drugs - is immediate skin on skin contact as soon as the baby is born. I've heard that it's a pretty incredible bonding experience and often times the baby will immediately root around looking to nurse. It's so amazing how that intuition just kicks right in. We truly are phenomenal creatures. I plan to continue the skin on skin contact for quite sometime... and Eddie will be doing it once we're home from the hospital. He needs that bonding time just as much as I do. Other than that, I am going to follow my body's lead... it will know exactly what to do when the time comes.

So the baby's bag is packed, my bag is packed, the room is completely done, so we wait...

More to report from the baby belly at week 39... I'm sure we'll still be here!!

Peace, Love, and Baby,

37 weeks... almost there!!

Can I just tell you how swollen my poor feet and ankles... ahem, I mean cankles, are these days?! S-W-O-L-L-E-N. There's no getting around it. No matter what I do. I have had issues with swelling in my left foot for years and the doctors have never been able to determine why. No blood clots, no fracture, no fluid, just a puffy foot that is not attractive when it's at its full puffiness. I have had every test done under the sun and still no answer. I always feared that this would happen when I got pregnant. And it has. And if my left foot being the size of Texas isn't bad enough, my right foot has obviously decided to follow suite. Not fun. Not one bit of fun. I am currently sitting here with both of my legs elevated, drinking my millionth glass of water hoping that the swelling goes down at some point.

It doesn't help that I pretty much sit at my desk all day at work.. and I don't wear the worlds most supportive shoes. The last part of that sentence is totally my fault. I should know better! I did get some comfy Dr Scholls flats that are super cute. So lately, if I'm not wearing those, then I'm wearing my gym shoes. I do make it a point to get up and move around, walk the halls, the stairs, to get my circulation going. And although I do all of these things, nothing really seems to help. I have even started to sleep with pillows at the end of my bed so my feet can be even more elevated when I'm sleeping. Pretty much, my side of the bed has been taken over by pillows galore. I'm over it.

My doctor's appt this past Monday didn't give me much good news as far as my progression with dilating... she said that I was still at a steady 1cm, maybe 1.5cm. Seriously, how could she tell?! But she said that my "cervix is super soft". Whatever that means. I need for her to talk to me in layman's terms... I think that she forgets that I have no idea what any of this means! But I'm learning :) I am hoping that she tells me I'm at least 2cm next week when I see her. I would jump off of the table and hug her if she told me that I was 3cm. Wishful thinking.

I feel like my belly is at maximum capacity for this little one... the movements are all over the place and not in the least bit comfortable. Kicking me in the ribs, on my sides, all over my poor bladder. As you can tell, I am ready for this baby to come... I have this theory about full moons and how gravity works and blah blah blah... so my due date is March 28th and the next full moon is March 29th. Please oh please let my theory be right. My sissy really wants this baby to be born on her birthday, which is March 21st. I would love that too!! Especially since that is exactly one week before baby's due date.

So other than my feet and ankles-now-turned-cankles being swollen and the baby kicking my poor insides like crazy, I'm doing fantastic! Just as a side note - I LOVE the movements of my baby and I am not in the least bit complaining about that. It's just now that baby is fully developed and has little to no wiggle room, it makes for some very uncomfortable jabs.

Eddie and I took our Baby Care Basics class last night (3/9) and also got a lovely tour of the maternity floor at the hospital. Holy Hotel, this place is gorgeous! Its just like a hotel. It should be called the Dublin Hilton. I feel lucky to be delivering there. We have our Breastfeeding class tomorrow evening (3/11) and then we're done and ready! We'll know how to change our baby's diaper and feed him/her properly.

Here are some pics of the baby's ultra adorable baby's room and, of course, my baby bump:

week 36... BIG NEWS

So I am 36 weeks and 3 days, or something like that. I started my weekly doctor's appointments earlier this week (on Monday the 1st). I will see her weekly from here on out - she will check my cervix to see if I've started to dilate. So the BIG NEWS... I've started to dilate! Baby is makin' his/her way into our lives. Oh how sweet it is.

I'm only 1cm, but that's a good start :) I hope to have progressed at least to 2cm by my appt next Monday. But I understand that I can very easily sit at 1cm or even 2 or 3cm's for quite some time. So I am being optimistic and hoping that isn't the case. I hope that baby comes close to his/her due date. Now that I know that the process has officially begun, I am in serious crunch time. Our crib finally came in. Thank the Lord. So yay, the nursery will be complete by the end of this week! Makes me a very happy mama-to-be :)

I just can't believe that this is actually happening. I have been waiting for March to get here since the end of July and now that it is here I don't know what to do with it! I am excited beyond words, but it's a bit bittersweet as well. I have truly had a beautiful pregnancy (lets hope that these last few weeks are no different). I am going to miss having Baby R roll and squirm around in my belly - even at 3am! I'm going to miss Eddie laying on the bed with his hand rested on my stomach watching him in amazement as the baby responds to his touch. I truly am going to miss the pleasure of keeping this baby safe and warm during his/her time of growth. But... soon enough I will have the real thing laying peacefully in my arms or on my chest as I sing my sweet lullabies of Michael Jackson and Madonna :) I am so ready to meet this little angel of ours.

Between now and the end of the month my plan is to just take it easy. Eddie is headed down to visit Ivan this weekend (just for one night). He deserves it! Besides, if he doesn't do it now I don't know when the next opportunity will arise. In 18 years, maybe?! Ha. Only joking! As much as I would love to go and visit with Jamie & Ivan, I just don't think that it's in my best interest to go. Anything can happen at any point and I don't want to take any chances.

I am highly contemplating hiring a house cleaner to come in and really do some cleaning to our home. Eddie says that he'll do it, but really, I just want him to relax a little before things really begin. Hmmm, maybe I'll do that on Saturday morning when he's gone?!

Here is my lovely baby bump:

35 weeks...

I don't think that I ever imagined myself getting to 35 weeks... I mean, I knew that I eventually would, but I just don't think that I really thought about how I would feel 32 days away from my due date. I remember hitting the 12 week mark and thinking that I had hit some ginormous milestone. Well, technically I did because it was during week 12 that I finally started to gain my energy back and feel like a normal human again. Unfortunately, I am back in the pure and utter exhaustion stage and I fear that I may never feel like a normal human being again.Or at least sleep like a normal human being again. I know that I will be up with the baby every couple of hours throughout the night but at least I'll resume my ever-so-missed position of sleeping on my tummy. Oh man, how I've missed it.

Week 35 has been a long week. I think that it's going to sort of drag it's feet from here on out. The anticipation of FINALLY finding out the sex of Baby R is weighing heavily on my mind and I absolutely cannot wait for that moment to arrive. I am also counting down the days until my due date, so I'm sure that isn't helping either. If I could, I would sit and watch the hours and minutes tick by... but it's nice to know that in just a few short days, when people ask "when are you due" I can respond with "at the end of this month" or "just a few short weeks" or "tomorrow".

Eddie and I have signed up for a parenting class and a breastfeeding class at Dublin Methodist Hospital - where I will be delivering sweet Baby R. We're taking a Baby Care Basics class on Tuesday 3/9. That class will give us the vital and pertinent information that we will need for baby once we come home from the hospital. Yes, we will definitely need that. Otherwise, we will sit staring at each other and the baby not knowing what in the hell to do next!! The other class is a Breastfeeding Preparation class on Thursday 3/11, so I will know how to correctly feed my child :) That's pretty essential.

The nursery is almost complete - just missing the all important crib! Hopefully it will be in by the end of this week or next. I'm growing antsy. But the dresser and glider are both in there and I finally finished all of the laundry. I manage to sort through and put things away on a daily basis. Eddie is making the individual shelves for the walls, hopefully this weekend, and we will also put up the bee decals. It's all coming together very nicely.

week 34... running out of room?

I know that I still have 5 weeks (and some days) left in my beautiful pregnancy, but is it too early for me to say that this baby is potentially running out of room in my belly? Either that, or this baby has got some seriously long legs and is just kicking, moving and practicing some killer dance moves in there. There are times when the jabbing and poking really makes me uncomfortable. It's primarily on my lower left side - like near my hip!

I've heard that the bigger the baby gets, the more the movements slow down... um, no. Not in our case. This precious little babe is a full-time mover and shaker! Has been since the very first time we heard the heartbeat. But I'm not complaining. Not one bit. I absolutely love watching my tummy move. It's like seeing it for the first time with every little movement. What's not to love about that incredible bond. It's indescrible. The feeling, the emotion, the excitement, the anticipation.

So I have had both of my baby showers. My second one was on 2/13 hosted by my sister-in-law, Clara. It was perfect. She had a chocolate theme and I was in heaven... go figure. We got a ton of crib sheets, receiving blankets, burp cloths, books, diapers, lots of good essentials! Since all of our furniture has YET to arrive, I have started doing laundry. It needs to be done, so I figured that I might as well get a head start on it. On Tuesday when I was folding the small little onesies, I totally got all emotional and started to tear up. I just can't wait to meet this little baby! Me, getting emotional over laundry. The one 'chore' that I can't stand. It's just really hitting me that the baby will be here so soon. I can already imagine the baby in the itty bitty clothes. They are all just so adorable! I am heading down to IKEA this Saturday to purchase the rug and the dresser/changing table for the room. At least then we will finally have some furniture in the room! The glider/ottoman is in but for some reason, the crib was put on backorder on 2/11. Direct Buy is trying to figure out why and when it will be delivered. It's a bit essential and I am just getting antsy.

I saw my OB earlier this week and all is well! Baby's HR was at 145bpm and my BP and weight still looked great. I will see her again in 2 weeks. I will be 36 weeks at that point and she will continue to see me weekly to check my cervix to see if I have started to dilate. As of this very moment, I have 38 days until due date time. I hope to go not a minute over my due date... but I'm sure that I will. I'm definitely getting to the point of pure and total exhaustion.

weeks 31, 32 & 33... I'm a big time slacker!

I am currently in the middle of week 33 and time has just gotten the best of me. I have been on the go, go, go, and here I am three weeks later. I am trying to stay on top of things - really, I am - but I'm starting to feel like I'm in a bit of a time crunch. Overwhelmed, maybe?! Yes, definitely!!

According to my "baby ticker" I have about 45 more days to go. Wowza! That's like, just around the corner.

So over the last 3 weeks, Eddie has been feverishly working on the nursery. The walls are painted, the new hardwood floors have been laid (man, that was a slight catastrophe), and the beautiful curtains that my mother-in-law so graciously made, have been hung. It looks wonderful! The furniture should be in any minute now... so for the time, all of the 'baby stuff' is currently sitting in the furniture-less nursery and in the hallway.

So the BIG arrival of Rachel and Brian has come and gone :( and this time, more than ever, I am so extremely sad. I am always sad when Rach comes and goes or when we visit them and have to leave, or when we spend 7 amazing days in Hawaii with them only to part ways and head home... and unfortunately, I have a feeling that when this baby is born it's going to be harder than it's ever been for them to come and go. So they flew in last Thursday (2/4) morning and we spent every waking minute together from the time that they landed until the time that they left. Eddie and Brian were best buds - so while the girls were preparing for a baby shower, the guys were having their bachelor nights. Too funny, to say the very least!! My shower thrown by Rach and Stacey was nothing short of spectacular!! It was breathtaking. Fresh flowers, homemade food by Rach and Val, beautiful table coverings, it was all so perfect! I am ever so blessed. I had about 43 guests attend! We got so much stuff!! All of our big items from our registry and then some. I am very, very happy about that. My very dear friend Jessica - and the best photographer, might I add - joined in on the festivities and snapped lots and lots of pictures. I'm sure that they will be phenonemal, like always. I can't wait for her to send us the disc. AND... her present to us: when the baby is born she will do the baby's first photo session for free! Is she amazing or what!! Here are so pictures of the shower decor (note: all of the colors are lime green, black & white to go with our room color scheme!!)

As you can tell, it was simply gorgeous! A HUGE thank you to the most amazing sissy ever, Rachel, Stacey, Valerie, Janet, and my beautiful mother. This day was so incredible for me. I love you all.

I have yet another baby shower given by my sister-in-law, Clara, this coming Saturday. This shower will be much smaller - it's for Eddie's side of the family (the Reynolds' and the Smith's). I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone... and because it's a chocolate themed party!! And everyone knows that mama and Baby R loves chocolate these days :)

Not too much activity going on to report... other than the fact that my baby belly is getting mighty big!! I had my most recent doctor's appointment on Friday 2/5 and Rach got to come with me. She was so excited to hear the heartbeat :) My total weight gain at nearly 33wks gestation is 25lbs! Baby is already head down - but there could be some wiggle room in there so the baby can turn at any given moment. All I know is that this baby keeps me up at night... I swear to you, he/she is having quite the party in my baby belly :)

Baby's heartbeat has been at a constant 150-155bmp throughout my entire pregnancy. But on Friday, baby's heartbeat was at 137bpm. Dr Summers said that as the baby gets bigger and the central nervous system continues to develop, the heartbeat is more than likely to slow down. She was not in the least bit concerned, so I will take her word for it.

I can't believe that I have just over 6 weeks until my due date. I hope, hope, hope that I don't go too much over my due date. Rachel's bday is on March 21st so she is pushing for that date - Eddie thinks that I will go a few days early - my prediction is March 30th. Just as long as baby gets here safe and sound... that is the most important thing.

I promise that I won't wait another 3 weeks to write my blog! I am beaming with excitement and anticipation to meet this little one. These last 33 weeks have truly flown by. I hope that the next 6 (hopefully not more) fly by just as quickly... but in the meantime, I'm going to enjoy my last weeks with just Eddie and I and get as much rest as possible :)

As always, the baby bump:

week 30... 10 more weeks!!

It sounds absolutely insane to say that Baby R will be here in 10 weeks... I honestly cannot believe it. My life has been in total fast forward mode for the past 26 weeks! All that I can think about is baby. All that I want to talk about is baby. All that I want to shop for is... yep, you guessed it... baby! I've gone baby crazy... I can only imagine what it's going to be like once Baby R is finally here.

I'm feeling much, much better than I was last week. I finally started to feel like myself again by Wednesday and had a wild hair this past weekend to go out with the girls for a night on the town. I just had to get out and be in a social atmosphere... and I'm not talking out to dinner or to a movie. I needed some visual stimulation. So, where better to get visual stimulation than down in the arena district! It hit a *high* of 40 degrees (believe me, after the coldness and the 17 days of snow in a row, 40 degrees did feel like summer) and the hootchies were out and about. I've laughed at them all before, but I guess I just look at things differently being pregnant and all. It was comical to say the least. But then again, it always is. It was low key for sure. Hung out at Bar Louie, sat at a table, drank my water, and people watched. It got crowded pretty quickly and walking through the crowds made me nervous. I just don't want to be jabbed with an elbow or have some drunk person fall into me. Paranoid?! Maybe. It was nice to be out and about in the social scene... but I was over it pretty quickly.

This week has been a good one so far. Nursery is coming along - Eddie plans on finishing up the hardwood floors this weekend. I'm so anxious to see it all done.

Gestation week: 30
Total weight gain: Up 2 lbs in 2 weeks... grand total 21 lbs
Baby size: Baby R is about 15.7 inches long and weighs about 3lbs
Major baby developments: Eyesight is developing
Current issue: Sleep
Current craving: Sushi - of course I crave what I can't have :(
Exercise this week: Treadmill
Hormonal moment of the week: Had a tear stroll down my face during American Idol. And I don't even like that stupid show!!
Stretch marks: None to report
Maternity clothes: Yep!
Most recent baby purchase: Furniture!!
Fluttering/kicking: Moving and hiccuping all day long.
Most memorable moment of the week: Room is completely painted and furniture has been purchased!

So this concludes week 30. I am becoming extremelly anxious to meet this little one! I once thought that I was FOR SURE that this little baby is a girl... now, I'm just not sure. My intuition has left the building and I am clueless! Either way, I can't wait to hear the doctor announce the BIG news!

week 29... sick!

I knew that the inevitable was coming... that I would get sick. It happens every year, so with my immunity being lower than normal (I am caring for two people here instead of just one!!), it was bound to happen. And it did. I am still getting over it. But I actually look human today and not some sickly alien with blood shot, watery eyes and tissues stuffed up my nose. Yeah, I was totally cute.

And as many of you probably know, there isn't much a pregnant gal can take to relieve herself of the stuffed up nose, the coughing, the sneezing, the running nose, the sinus headache, the congestion... ugh, the list goes on and on. I can only take a certain kind of Sudafed (and only 30mg tablets at that... what in the hell is that going to do for anyone?!). So my sweet husband went out and got me some medicine and a vaporizer. It has been my best friend since Sunday. I can't wait to turn that thing on again this evening :) I don't do well with illnesses on a regular day, so dealing with it while I am pregnant was twice the fun! My biggest concern was that this didn't turn into something more serious. I'm hoping that I'm in the clear...

Eddie started on the nursery this past weekend and plans to finish it (and by finish I mean paint) by this weekend. Ideally I would also like for him to take up the carpet and order the unfinished hardwood floors so that way we can get them installed, sanded and stained before the end of the month. We plan to have the floors picked out and purchased by the end of next week! It's all coming together.

I bought the 4-in-1 crib (goes from a crib, to a toddler bed, to day bed, to full size bed) and the glider/ottoman over the weekend!! I plan to head down to Ikea in Cincinnati sometime in February to purchase the dresser (the changing table will be on top) and the rug for the bedroom. My ever so crafty father-in-law will be making a bookshelf/side table for us! I just can't wait to see it all completed. .

My shower is 3 weeks away which only means one thing... I'm 3 weeks away from having my sissy's hands rubbin' all of this growing baby belly of mine! I cannot wait.

Gestation week: 29
Total weight gain: Probably only a pound or so since last week
Baby size: Baby R is now over 15 inches long and weighs about 2 1/2 lbs
Major baby developments: Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and his/her head is getting bigger to accommodate his/her growing brain
Current issue: Sinuses
Current craving: Not a damn thing, because i can't taste anything!
Exercise this week: Once on the treadmill.. it was hard with being sick. Haven't have the strength or energy to do much of anything other than blow my nose and lay in bed :(
Hormonal moment of the week: Cried at A Baby Story on Monday and Fresh Price of Bel Air last night.
Stretch marks: I make Eddie check daily... still in the clear!!
Maternity clothes: So not cute.
Most recent baby purchase: Nothing yet this week.
Fluttering/kicking: HICCUPING!!
Most memorable moment of the week: Nothing too memorable about being sick :(

And since I'm a total slacker and didn't post a week 28 picture, here is my baby bump at week 29:

By the way, this picture was taken in the newly painted baby's room!!

More to report from the baby belly at week 30!!!!! 10 more weeks to go... Can you believe it?!?!

week 28... feelin' great!

I sit here in total wonderment questioning how and when the last 28 weeks flew by me so quickly. Eddie and I were just talking about the night that we found out I was pregnant. It literally seems like it was just yesterday... but that was eons ago, way back in July. Time has truly flown by and I am so happy that I have had a pleasant pregnancy so far. I can only hope for the same over the next 11 weeks or so.

Week 28 has been good. I had my 28 week OB check up - up 4 more pounds from week 24 (1 lb per week, which is right on schedule). From here until week 36 I will see Dr. Summers every 2 weeks. Then at 36 weeks I will see her weekly until I deliver. I can't believe it. From this day we have exactly 80 days until my due date.Talk about crazy!

Baby has gotten a lot bigger and so therefore is finding more places to explore in my belly. Like for instance, right now baby is moving up near my ribcage and in my lower belly. I don't know when this child sleeps because I am constantly feeling movement. I hope that this is not a sign of what is to come.... :)

Gestation week: 28
Total weight gain: I have gained a total of 4lbs in 4 wks - grand total: 19lbs
Baby size: Baby R is about 15 inches long and weighs about 2.25lbs (if not more!)
Major baby developments: Open & close eyes, which now also have eyelashed
Current issue: Sleep.
Current craving: I think I'm coming out of my sweet tooth phase.

weeks 26 & 27... where is the time going?!

So I have officially slacked off on my blogging duties. For this, I apologize! With Christmas last week and all of the hustle and bustle that came along with it, I just didn't get the chance to sit down at my laptop and write. And I figured that with this week being New Years, we're having company, and the big Rose Bowl, I probably won't get a chance to sit down to write my week 27 blog. So, I am now writing them together.

Week 26 was good - from what I can remember. I lose track of my days when it's the holidays and I have time off from work. It was a busy week, I do know that much! Our Christmas festivites started last Tuesday night at Ed's Grandma & Grandpa Reynolds'. We did the annual potluck thing, opened presents, and went home. Thursday evening Ed and I went to my moms for Christmas Eve dinner and to do our gift exchange. Mom made a delicious shrimp and asparagus penne pasta dish with a garlic/basil sauce. 'Twas deee-lish!! It was nice and relaxing, just the three of us :)

That evening, Eddie and I decided to exchange our gifts that we got each other. He got me a few baby things and a beautiful diamond bracelet! Man, he sure does know how to spoil me :) Oh, and a new pair of gym shoes, which I desperately needed!! I got him a new pair of gym shoes, a new coffee maker, some house slippers, a few coffee mugs, and the Hangover DVD.

Friday morning, Christmas Day, we woke up early to hit the road for Cincinnati. We got there around 1215p and left around 240p. It was so nice to see family and friends that we haven't seen for a few years and spend more time with my momma. We went straight from Cincinnati to Ashville to have Christmas dinner with Ed's parents, sister and Grandma Carolyn. Needless to say, we crashed when we got home that evening. And finally, Saturday, we had the last of our Christmas dinners with Eddie's moms side of the family. By the time Sunday rolled around, I was exhausted!

Thankfully, this week isn't looking too busy so far. Ivan & Jamie are coming in on Thursday for the New Years Eve celebration held at Kim's this year. I'm pretty excited about that. I got the cutest red dress for the occasion and thought that I would spice up my outfit with my leopard print peep-toe heels. Sexy!

Baby R is moving like crazy inside of my baby belly. Last night I was simply amazed at the baby's movements. I don't know if it was a hand or a foot, but the movements were slow and literally from one side of my belly to the other. The feeling is indescribable.

Gestation week: 26 & 27
Total weight gain: Well, I have neglected getting on the scale. I'm way too hormonal right now. I have my 28 week check up next Tuesday, I'll let you know then!!
Baby size: Baby R is about 15 inches long and weighs about 2lbs (if not more!)
Major baby developments: Sleeping & waking at regular intervals, opening and closing eyes, perhaps sucking thumb or fingers, brain is very active now, and lungs are now capable of functioning - with a lot of medical help - if he/she were to be born right now.
Current issue: Sleep.
Current craving: Getting better at managing my "sweet tooth" cravings
Exercise this week: A little in week 26 - I am back on the treadmill tonight!!
Hormonal moment of the week: Cried like a baby last night because I threw a dog toy at Eddie (jokingly) and it hit him in the nose and I felt bad. He thought it was funny.
Stretch marks: Still none!! I put on my cocoa butter and baby oil 2x/day
Maternity clothes: Buh-bye regular clothes... until next summer!!
Most recent baby purchase: Baby got lots of books and a few other things for Christmas
Fluttering/kicking: All day long! :)
Most memorable moment of the week: Celebrating our last Christmas as just Eddie and Meredith

That pretty much sums up the last two weeks of my pregnancy. As of today, I have exactly 3 months until my due date. CRAZY! Where oh where is the time going to?! After the new year, and I am most definitely looking forward to Rachel & Brian coming home.

And since it's been a few weeks (oops, sorry) here is my baby bump:

And here is a picture of Grayson, our Christmas pup!

More to report from the baby belly at week 28 (the official start of my 7th month and my 3rd trimester!!).

week 25... almost less than 100 days to go!

25 weeks down... 15 more to go. I just cannot believe how quickly time is passing. I knew that with the holidays, the weeks would just fly by. Now if only this same theory applies once January comes. Which, I'm thinking that it will. I have so much to look forward to between now and the end of March.

For starters, Christmas is nex week! I am oober excited. I have a few miscellaneous items that I need to purchase.. mostly for Eddie. But mom and I are headed back out to the malls again this weekend so that I can finish things up. I work a 3-day week next week (can I get an AMEN!!), so I am most definitely looking forward to some more family time and for some relaxation time. After next week, NEW YEARS! SO much to celebrate going forward into 2010 and SO much to be thankful for in 2009 (ahem, Baby R!).The celebration, as we begin 2010, will be held at Kim's house. Low key, like last year. Minus me being the ridiculous drunk that I was. This year, I will be the responsible mama-to-be while I watch everyone else make fools of themselves. Although, I am tempted to have a celebratory glass of bubbly to toast with my husband and my closest of friends at midnight :) I think that I just may treat myself to that. Besides, my doctor says that it's perfectly okay to have a glass now and then in your second and third trimesters of pregnancy. I think that the one glass of bubbly will do!

After the holidays pass, next up: my baby shower thrown my Rachel and Stacey!! Can I tell you just how excited I am for this?! This may be the baby shower of the century. They are going all out!! I simply cannot wait. The shower is scheduled for Sunday, February 7th.... which obviously means that RACHEL WILL BE HOME!! And better yet... BRIAN TOO!! I can't wait to wrap my arms around them and have Rachie feelin' all over the baby bump. She's gonna love it. My plan is to schedule my 32 week OB check up while they are home so that Rach can come with me to the appt and listen to Baby R's heartbeat. The shower will consist of my friends and my family. Clara (my sister-in-law) and their cousin, Dee, plan on throwing me one for their side of the family... I just don't know when. Nevertheless, another thing to look forward to as the weeks tick by.

And then... it's March. The unfortunate truth of it all is that March will probably be the slowest month of all. The hours will seem like days and the minutes will seem like years... I've always heard that the last few weeks are the most uncomfortable and the longest. We shall see.

Gestation week: 25
Total weight gain: 16lbs total
Baby size: Baby R is about 13.5 inches long and weighs about a pound and a half (if not more!!)
Major baby developments: Baby is starting to get some fat on that little body and lots of growing hair (for mommy to play with)
Current issue: my sleep
Current craving: Chocolate. But learning how to manage my craving.
Exercise this week: Yep! On the treadmill like I promised.
Hormonal moment of the week: I pouted for like a minute while baby registering in Babies R Us
Stretch marks: Still none!! Amazing.
Maternity clothes: Ahhh, yes.
Most recent baby purchase: Nada
Fluttering/kicking: Keeping me up at night!
Most memorable moment of the week: Baby registering! Eddie and I had a good time :)

And now my baby bump:

week 24... growing by the seconds!!

It's official. The weight gain is in full effect! There is no stopping Baby R now. I had my monthy checkup this past Tuesday, 12/8, and was required to do the glucose tolerance screening which screens for gestational diabetes. I had to drink this horrific orange drink that was full of sugar. Ick. And what made it even worse, was that they didn't have any cold so I had to drink it nice and warm. Yum.

My blood pressure looked good, baby's heartbeat was at 155bpm (it's pretty much been consistent throughout my pregnancy so far), and I'm up a total of.... drum roll please... 15lbs! Wowza. I must have really enjoyed myself over Thanksgiving. I need to lay off of the sweets. My constant craving for all things chocolate can subside anytime now.Seriously. Any day now.

Granted, I am exactly where I should be and my doctor is very pleased with my progression - I guess that I just didn't think that I gained 5.5lbs within 4 weeks. Needless to say, I will be back on the treadmill more than just 2 or 3 times a week.

Christmas is in a few weeks (2 from tomorrow, to be exact) and Eddie and I are in the least bit prepared. Like always. We wait until the VERY last minute to do our shopping. We won't be able to swing that within the next few years. We did pick out our Christmas tree last Sunday and I am proud to say that this is the first year that we didn't pick out a "dud" tree. Last years tree was an absolute disaster - so much that I didn't even know if I wanted to go down that road again this year. But our little tree is perfect!

Gestation week: 24
Total weight gain: Up a total of 15lbs!!
Baby size: Baby R has gained nearly 4oz (if not more) since last week! Well over a pound and probably over a foot long.
Major baby developments: Brain is growing quickly and taste buds are continuing to develop.
Current issue: Finding the motivation to get my butt on the treadmill.
Current craving: Chocolate.
Exercise this week: None to report other than walking the stairs at work.
Hormonal moment of the week: I've been a good girl
Stretch marks: Still none, but I obsess over looking for them. They're bound to show up sooner than later.
Maternity clothes: Ahhh, yes.
Most recent baby purchase: Cutest onesie!!
Fluttering/kicking: Movement, movement, and MORE movement.
Most memorable moment of the week: Picking out our baby furniture.

Speaking of baby furniture, here is what we've picked out:

CRIB

DRESSER

GLIDER & OTTOMAN

I can't wait to order it all!! Soon enough, soon enough...

Here is my "growing by the seconds" baby bump (and Grayson...)

week 23...a mover and a shaker!!

A mover and a shaker... that pretty much sums up the life of Baby R in-utero. From the time that my OB, Dr. Summers, first heard the heartbeat (at 11 weeks) she made the comment that she could hear the baby squirmming around (I don't even think that Baby R was so much as an 2 inches long)! I didn't start feeling the baby until my 18th or 19th week and since then this baby has taken up a liking of moving all over my belly.

During my 20 week ultrasound Baby R was definitely not a still baby. Clearly, Baby R is taking after his/her daddy in that department. For example, when Eddie is on the phone the man cannot sit, let alone stand, still! He paces... and paces... and paces. Drives me crazy. Drives pregnant Meredith even crazier!!

Last night we had sloppy joes for dinner and I can't tell if the baby thrououghly enjoyed the meal or detested it. Either way, Baby R was moving around like crazy. Nearly to the point of making me nauseas. I know that sounds horrible, but after filling my belly with a big dinner and then having all of that movement going on in... it just wasn't conducive to how baby normally reacts after I eat. So, I made walnut brownies with caramel drizzled on the top. Yes folks, this is my new - and might I add SICK - obsession with food. That craving seemed to not only satisify my needs but Baby R's needs as well. We both slept like little babies last night :)

Week 23 has been good so far. Minus all of the crazy acrobatic movement baby has learned, I really don't have much to report. Well, I lied. I am starting to see the adverse effects of my growing belly on my seemingly shrinking lungs. Needless to say, I am having a harder time breathing than normal. Obviously, I totally expected this but I constantly feel myself taking in looooong, deep breaths. Sleeping has become a chore. I was sleeping with a small pillow between my legs but I finally got smart and upgraded to a body pillow that is doing wonders for not only my back and my rapidly growing belly, but for my constant tossing and turning. Don't get me wrong, I still toss and turn but not nearly as much as I was before. And of course I still get up once or twice a night to pee. I am starting to think that sleeping will NEVER be the same. I know the bigger that I get the more uncomfortable I will be... and of course once our sweet little baby arrives, sleep will be a rare commodity in the Reynolds household. I accept that. But what I don't accept is the fact that my sleepless nights have already begun. Woe is me.

Gestation week: 23 down 17 more to go!!
Total weight gain: Up a total of about 13 lbs
Baby size: about 12-13 inches and weighs over a pound now
Major baby developments: Baby senses movement when I dance to MJ songs :) blood vessels in lungs are developing to prepare for breathing and baby will be familiar with Grayson's constant (and often times annoying) barking once the baby is born!!
Current issue: My sick obsession with chocolate
Current craving: Ugh, Read above.
Exercise this week: Lots of excerise to make up from last week!
Hormonal moment of the week: I've been a good girl
Stretch marks: Still none, but I obsess over looking for them. They're bound to show up sooner than later.
Maternity clothes: Ahhh, yes.
Most recent baby purchase: Lots of cute outfits for Baby R.
Fluttering/kicking: Movement, movement, and MORE movement.
Most memorable moment of the week: A woman in my building at work could tell that I was pregnant. This made me very happy!

And as always, with the exception of last week because I deleted my pictures on accident, here is my growing baby bump.

week 22... THANKSGIVING!

I can't believe that it's Thanksgiving already (okay, so by the time that I actually got around to writing and posting this blog, Thanksgiving is long over with). Please forgive me, I have been so busy with a short work week and preparing for the holiday.

Eddie and I hosted a small turkey day get together at our house. We had my mom, our cousin Joan in from Atlanta, and Ed's parents over for a delicious meal. Eddie made the turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. My mom brought her famous mandrin orange salad and a delicious sweet potato casserole. Beth brought my favorite asparagus casserole (gotta get that recipe) and two of the most delectable pies you've ever had. It was so nice to have them over and give thanks to everything and everyone that we have in our lives. I have really reflected on what I am thankful for. I need to reflect on those people and things that I have more often than just once a year. I think that being pregnant and already feeling the amazing, unconditional love that parents feel for their children has really put things into perspective for me. I think about the different choices that I make in my daily life and how they will now not only reflect on Eddie and myself, but for our baby as well.

So with that being said, I am thankful for my incredible husband. He is my constant reminder in this life that things don't have to be so complicated. To live and love in each moment. He is a phenomenal man, husband, friend, and now soon-to-be father. I don't think he knows just how much he has changed my life and continues to make me strive to be the best person that I can be.

I am thankful for my sweet, sweet Baby R. I cannot wait to experience the incredible feeling of being a mother to this absolute miracle. I promise to be the best mother, friend, mentor, confidant that they could ever wish for. I cannot wait to meet you, precious Baby R.

I am thankful for my mother, sister and the rest of my (and Eddie's) family. Mom and Rachel, you two are my rock and my everything. I can't thank you enough for teaching me and being there for me every step of the way. You are, without a doubt, phenomenal women.

My friends are my laughter and joy. I thank each and every one of you for being such a special part of my life. My life wouldn't be the same without each and every one of you in it.You are all more than just my friends... you've become my family.

During week 22 the baby has been in acrobat mode! And I love it. On Thanksgiving day I lifted my shirt while laying on the couch and Eddie and I watched my stomach move as the baby squirmed and kicked. It was incredible. Now, I'm addicted to lifting up my shirt and staring at my baby belly. Haha.

Gestation week: 22
Total weight gain: Up a total of about 12 lbs
Baby size: Over 11 inches and weighs over a pound!
Major baby developments: Baby senses movement when I dance to MJ songs :) blood vessels in lungs are developing to prepare for breathing and baby will be familiar with Grayson's constant (and often times annoying) barking once the baby is born!!
Current issue: Crazy dreams that wake me up constantly.
Current craving: Still no cravings... I stay hungry with no idea as to what I want to eat. Blah.
Exercise this week: I've slacked due to the holiday!
Hormonal moment of the week: Lost my mind last weekend when I couldn't find pants to fit in length. But I am happy to say that I ordered a pair from Old Navy and am quite happy with them.
Stretch marks: Negative, thanks to Rachie for sending me some organic belly butter :)
Maternity clothes: Ahhh, yes.
Most recent baby purchase: Lots of cute outfits for Baby R.
Fluttering/kicking: Movement, movement, and MORE movement.
Most memorable moment of the week: Eddie and I watching my baby belly move as the baby moved. AND finding jeans that FIT! Woo to the hoo!

We finally picked out our stroller/baby carrier this weekend - although we won't be registering until mid December, my mom and I decided to take one on a "test drive".

And as always, here is my baby bump (after eating a million pounds of turkey this weekend!

week 21... hormones are going wild!

My hormones are completely out of whack - not in a bad way, just in a "this isn't typical Meredith behavior". Or maybe it is and I am just in denial?! Who knows...

For example, I LOVE to eat and am usually not too indecisive about what I want to shove into my mouth. But lately (within the last week or so) I can't tell you what I want to eat at all. Not even a little bit. It's getting to the point that I am even becoming frustrated with myself. I think that I want something and change my mind within seconds. Or I make something and after a few bites I realize that it wasn't really what I wanted. Like for instance the other evening Eddie wanted breakfast for dinner, so I made omelets (I make the BEST omelets) and sausage. I was so excited for my delectable omelet with all of the cheese and red peppers seeping out. But literally, after two bites, I was not satisified with my choice of dinner. So what did I do next? I pouted. Not in an obnoxious way, just in a pregnant girl way (YES, there IS a difference!!). Needless to say, I ate more of my rainbow sherbet that I have become obsessed with. I hope that I snap out of this change sooner than later.

As far as other hormonal changes: I cry at the drop of a hat. I cried at an episode of CSI Miami the other night for cryin' out loud. But this whole crying business is nothing new to my pregnancy world. The texture of my hair feels different. I can't tell if it's a good different or a bad different. Either way, it sort of makes me want to cry. Go figure. I just can't style it the way I used to. Not even my top of the line products are working for me. And I suddenly have these distinct natural auburn highlights?! Wtf? My hair is normally pretty darn dark! Hmmm, not sure about what's going on with that.

Luckily for Eddie (and myself) I'm hormonal in a decent way. Personally, I feel like I've been a fabulous pregnant wife - so far! I hope that he would say the same :)

Week 21 has been good so far... nothing too major to report:

Gestation week: 21
Total weight gain: Probably gained about a pound or so since last Wednesday... so I'm up 10lbs total
Baby size: About 11 inches. Baby probably weighs about 13oz by now
Major baby developments: Baby's eyebrows and eyelids are now present. And if we're having a girl, her va jay-jay has begun to form!
Current issue: Not being able to finding maternity pants in consignment shops that are LONG enough for me
Current craving: Ha. Read above. I don't know what I want!
Exercise this week: Walking Grayson :)
Hormonal moment of the week: Cried at CSI on Monday. P.a.t.h.e.t.i.c.
Stretch marks: Negative, ghost rider.
Maternity clothes: Searching feverishly.
Most recent baby purchase: Nada. I've been good.
Fluttering/kicking: I think that Baby R is an acrobat.
Most memorable moment of the week: Eddie FINALLY felt lots belly nudges last Saturday morning!!

As always, here is my baby bump growing by the minute (as Eddie so eloquently tells me!!)...

week 20... halfway there!

5 months down... 4 1/2 more to go! I am officially halfway through my pregnancy. Luckily we have the holidays coming up, so I'm hoping that makes November and December fly by!

We had our 20 week ultrasound on Tuesday, 11/10, and it was magical. Like I said, we invited our mothers and it was nothing but pure bliss for the both of them. I could only have two people come into the room with me - of course Eddie stayed with me the whole time - so mom and Beth rotated. The expression on both of their faces was priceless as they looked at their FIRST grandchild on the screen. My mom felt the absolute need to take a million pictures of me while having the ultrasound done... she's an avid scrapbooker!!

The baby looked fantastic. This baby has nearly doubled in size since our 16 week ultrasound! I was shocked! The baby is clearly taking after his/her daddy... Baby R just couldn't sit still! Not even for a second. It was quite comical to say the least. Babe was doing somersaults, head between legs, and then... the baby totally started to pout! Literally, the baby put their hand on it's forehead as if to say "C'mon, you guys are really bothering me here!" I LOVE the attitude... hmmm, perhaps a girl?!

The tech did a complete head to toe exam of Baby R and said that the baby looked absolutely amazing! The baby's profile was so darn cute that she even let us see a 4D ultrasound. It was so cool to see how the baby's face is starting to take shape. Granted, I am only 20 weeks and they don't normally do the 4D's until around 28 weeks and after... so the baby sort of looked alien-esque. But still absolutely adorable.

Eddie and I held strong on our word and didn't give into finding out the sex. But I ain't gonna lie... it was hard! Way harder for me than it was for Eddie (he kept me in line). He reminded me of the joy that was coming our way and the fact that he can't wait to be the proud papa and tell everyone the news of his son or daughter! That right there makes the wait totally worth while.

I have been pretty convinced that we're having a girl for a while now... I have had VIVID dreams about a baby girl and I just have that overall feeling. Eddie and I honestly don't care what we have, just as long as Baby R is happy and healthy - although I think that he's a bit more team BLUE :)

I am amazed at the unconditional love that I already feel for Baby R. The further along I get and the more that I see and feel, the harder that I fall. I am madly in love...

Gestation week: 20
Total weight gain: Had my OB appt yesterday and have gained a grand total of 9lbs
Baby size: Approx 10-11 inches. Baby weighed in at 12oz on 11/10... 50th percentile for weight!!
Major baby developments: Baby is swallowing a lot more and is now producing meconium (poo)
Current issue: Growing out of ALL my pants :( bye-bye size 8's
Current craving: Nothing inparticular... thankfully
Exercise this week: Walking Grayson :)
Hormonal moment of the week: Cried at the Ultrasound... Duh!
Stretch marks: Not yet... hopefully never!
Maternity clothes: It's starting...
Most recent baby purchase: Nothing this week!
Fluttering/kicking: SO much movement! I can't get enough of it.
Most memorable moment of the week: Having our 20wk ultrasound with our mothers!

Here are a few pictures of the regular ultrasound scan and the 4D scan... you can definitely tell a difference!

Baby R resting hand on forehead... SO dramatic

A diva in the making, perhaps?! We don't know but I sure do love this photo with baby's feet crossed.

4D ultrasound baby looking at us and you can see the umbilical cord by the face
look at that ear, eyes, nose, lips!!

week 19... I can feel the baby!!

The feeling: amazing. My emotions: indescribable. Our baby: incredible.

I have FINALLY felt Baby R move. More than move - small little jabs and pokes! I have been awaiting this feeling for so long. The feelings that I felt at the end of week 17 were definitely that of our growing babe. But I was misinterpreting them for gas, indigestion, my imagination. Jamie and I would compare notes... but we were both so unsure that we just kept on patiently waiting.

This past Saturday night, Halloween, we ended the night at Zenos (it's our favorite, can't you tell?!). Obviously, I don't and can't dance like I used to but I definitely enjoy shaking my toosh every now and then. The music was loud and I think that Baby R was really enjoying the sounds. That night as I lay in bed I felt all sorts of flutters - it felt like popcorn popping in my belly and twiching, like when your eye gets a twitch. Then on Sunday evening, Jamie and I went to see the Michael Jackson documentary, "This Is It", and I kid you not as soon as the music started to play, Baby R started a'groovin!! For those of you that know me, know that I adore Michael Jackson. I have since I was little and I always will. I told Eddie weeks ago that since I don't know any lullaby's, I will just sing MJ songs to our sweet little babe. I get the feeling that Baby R has, too, become a fan of MJ's music. Like mother like child.

On Tuesday night I was laying in bed - tv was off, Eddie was snoozin', and I was resting my hand on my baby belly thinking of all sorts of things. What the baby will look like? Will he/she have my naturally curly hair? Will the baby have Eddie's beautiful eyes and lips? And then I felt it. I felt a faint poke. I laid there, frozen. Was it gas... or was it truly the baby saying "hey mama!". But it kept on happening. The poking and jabbing. It was our baby! Since then I have felt it on and off, but at least every day. I felt it again last night and again this morning when I first got to work. It's faint and not a big baby kick by any means. But, nonetheless, it's our sweet baby. It's the most amazing sensation ever.

Other business: I can't believe that Thanksgiving is in 3 weeks... then it's Christmas. Eddie and I are playing host and hostess - for BOTH holidays this year. We must be crazy! We plan to have my mom, our cousin Joan from Atlanta, and Eddie's parents over for Thanksgiving. It will be small and simple. Christmas will be a bit different. Every year Eddie's moms side of the family (the Smith's) all get together and celebrate Christmas. I volunteered our home for this years celebration. I am super excited to have everyone over and entertain. Eddie loves to cook and is mighty good at it, so I'm sure he'll take over the kitchen. I don't mind that at all.

We plan on registering for the baby sometime at the beginning of December. You're probably thinking "they must be crazy to try and register during the holiday season". And you're right. But I would like to get it done before the new year. I keep telling Eddie that registering will be fun - just like it was for the wedding (hint... he was just there in my shadow while we, err I, registered for our wedding!). I don't think that he's buying it. Honestly, I don't even think that he has a clue what he's in for. I'm going to go crazy with that gun!! Family and friends are already discussing plans for the baby showers so I better get a move on.

Gestation week: 19
Total weight gain: About 1 lb or so since my last entry (a total of 9 lbs since July)
Baby size: 6 in (from head to bottom) so from head to toe, about 9 in/8.5 oz
Major baby developments: hair on scalp is sprouting, sensory development (taste, smell, hearing, vision and touch)
Current issue: Tossing and turning at night.
Current craving: Nada.
Exercise this week: Walking Grayson :)
Hormonal moment of the week: Cried my eyes out when I saw the Michael Jackson documentary
Stretch marks: Nope. Thank you, cocoa butter!!
Maternity clothes: Oh yes, Beth bought 4 great tops for me and I LOVE them!
Most recent baby purchase: I bought Baby R the cutest outfit from Target the other day. I couldn't resist.
Fluttering/kicking: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fluttering,  poking, jabbing!
Most memorable moment of the week: Laying in bed last night with my hand on my stomach feeling the baby's movement.

As always, here is my baby bump...
